Ches Crosbie calls on Premier to refer Muskrat Falls issues to an all-party committee of the legislature

St. John’s, NL (July 11, 2017) – Potential PC Party leadership candidate Ches Crosbie is calling on Dwight Ball to act immediately on the Muskrat Falls controversy by beginning a forensic audit of the project and appointing an all-party committee of the legislature.

“I have consulted widely and found a consensus that there should be an immediate forensic audit, but also that the need for and scope of any public inquiry should be fully considered.” said Crosbie, who is currently completing his province-wide “Connect with Crosbie” listening tour.

Crosbie added that the need, timing and scope of any public inquiry should be recommended by the consensus of an all-party committee.

“Muskrat Falls issues are too important to the Province to risk becoming a witch hunt orchestrated by one political party for partisan gain.” said Crosbie.

This follows an open letter to Premier Ball recently from former premier Brian Peckford, calling for an immediate forensic audit, and a public inquiry as necessary.

Crosbie previously served as a lawyer for breast cancer victims at the Cameron inquiry. Related to this, Crosbie added that “the business of the pathology lab proceeded without delay during the Cameron inquiry, and the same should be true of Muskrat Falls”.
