Former Speaker Roger Fitzgerald endorses Ches Crosbie for PC Leader
St. John’s, NL (December 4, 2017) – Roger Fitzgerald, former MHA for Bonavista South and Speaker for the House of Assembly, today endorsed Ches Crosbie in his bid for leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party.
“Today, I am pleased to endorse Ches Crosbie to be the next leader of our Progressive Conservative Party and the next Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Fitzgerald
“I believe Ches has what it takes to restore economic confidence in every corner of Newfoundland and Labrador, and help set our party and our province on the best course to ensure our families and communities thrive.”
Fitzgerald served as the MHA for Bonavista South from 1993-2011, including as the Speaker for the House of Assembly from 2007-2011. Fitzgerald joins former Premiers Tom Marshall and Tom Rideout, former cabinet ministers Dan Crummell and Joseph Goudie, and Memorial University’s PC and Conservative student associations, who have endorsed Crosbie over the last month.
“Electing Ches Crosbie means electing a leader that will be able to put forward together a strong team with an innovative vision and fresh set of policies to defeat our present Liberal government in 2019.”
The next leader of the PC Party will be selected during their party convention scheduled for April 27-29, 2018.
