The Need for a Fresh Face
Steve Kent recently accepted the job of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the City of Mount Pearl.
He will assume the senior bureaucratic position on October 10th, leaving behind his role in provincial politics.
Steve has been involved in elected politics for half his life, spent countless hours volunteering for important causes, and built a successful and growing business. The City of Mount Pearl has gained an experienced adviser, and I wish him the best of luck on his path of public service.
Neither I nor anyone else who knows Steve's love for and dedication to politics expects this to be a permanent leave of absence. After enriching his skill and experience in his new and challenging position, I think he'll be back!
Steve openly discussed the possibility of a run for Leader of the PC Party earlier this year.
More recently, he acknowledged the need for renewal inside the party, suggesting that the PC Party needs a "fresh face" to take it into the future. I admit that I agree.
As I tour around Newfoundland and Labrador talking with residents about politics, I am exploring whether I can give the PC Party and this province the leadership it wants and needs.
Do you think I might be the fresh face that the party needs?
