The Real Problem With Our Liberal Government
In February 2017 I announced my interest in running for Leader of the PC Party of Newfoundland and Labrador. That means this is my 6th month visiting communities across the province on my “Connect with Crosbie” exploratory tour.
I’ve visited most of the districts in Newfoundland and Labrador already (which should tell you that I think the future of our province is a very important matter).
So far, it has been a pleasure and privilege to speak with residents – PCs, Liberals, and NDPs alike – about their insights, opinions, and ideas.
What I’ve noticed is that most residents have the same overarching complaint about the current Liberal government. Just about everyone feels the same way.
You see, everyone criticizes the Liberal government for various reasons. But there are three words that sum them up perfectly.
The real problem with the current Liberal government is their failure to govern.
They react to problems instead of preventing them. They avoid the difficult but important decisions. No one is taking control.
It feels like we are drifting instead of forging our own path, and it is not good enough.
People who know me describe me as having the “willingness to learn whatever he needs to know to help [people] succeed”. I want to bring the same discipline to political leadership.
It is time to put an end to the Liberal government’s failures. It is time to build a foundation for good – no – great government.
